New Critique Group Guidelines

New Critique Group Guidelines

  • This group will be led by Linda Enos. Email her at r.enos@gmail.com with any questions or concerns.
  • You must be an HSW member to participate in this group.
  • This group will meet monthly after the regular HSW meeting on the second Saturday of the month. If there is an all-day presentation set for the regular meeting day, an alternate weekend day will be designated for the group. The meeting(s) will still be held at Scheels with a start time to be announced later.
  • This will be a “homework” group so pages must be submitted in advance.
  1. Only the first five (5) submissions sent to Linda – in the order in which she received them – will be accepted for critiquing. Those not selected will wait until the following month…again in the order she received them.
  2. Max number of pages for any submission is 12. Please start from the beginning of your story.
  3. Individuals must submit pages to Linda by the first of the month at r.enos@gmail.com. She will send a confirmation email saying she received your pages. If you don’t hear from Linda by the 3rd, it’s your responsibility to contact her to find out what happened. Email = linda.r.enos@gmail.com; text = 775-843-2776; call = 775-384-9406.
  4. Linda will send the pages to the other members of the group by the 3rd of the month. If you haven’t received pages by the 4th, it is your responsibility to contact her. Email = r.enos@gmail.com; text = 775-843-2776; call = 775-384-9406.
  5. It is the responsibility of everyone in the group to read and make comments on the submitted pages.
  6. Linda uses a PC laptop with the newest version of Word so if you’re on a MAC, it’s your responsibility to relay this information to her so a workable solution for getting/receiving your pages can be found.
  • Only the five members whose pages are to be critiqued will give oral comments on the other submissions. Linda will also give comments. If your pages were not critiqued, you will not give oral comments. This is to ensure everyone getting critiqued has a little skin in the game, with the exception of Linda. However, those not giving oral comments are welcomed (and encouraged!) to hand over their written comments to the respective authors.
  • All fiction genres will be welcomed.
